Root Cause

The source of the defect, the removal of which leads either to the similar defects frequency reduce or to their complete disappearance.

Root Cause Analysis

Analysis aimed to identifying the root causes of defects. When elimination of the root causes, we can hope to minimize the frequency of occurrence of defects in a particular type.

Safety

The ability of the software to stay within the acceptable risk of injury to health, business, programs, property or the environment.

Safety Critical System

System, the failure or malfunction of which may lead to human death or health damage, or do harm to business, software, property or environment.

Sanity Testing

Testing technique which determines if a new software version is performing well enough to accept it for a major testing effort.

Scenario Testing

Testing activity that uses scenarios based on a hypothetical story to help a person think through a complex problem or system for a testing environment.

Scorecard

A representation of summarized performance measurements representing progress towards the implementation of long-term goals.
