Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) is a Unix-based operating system developed by Berkley Software Design, Inc.
FreeBSD, OpenBSD and NetBSD are most well-known descendants of this system that are based on 386BSD.
Modern BSD-based systems have open source code licensed under BSD.
