How to Measure Quality? Estimating Bugs and Results of Their Fixing

The priority of every software testing company is individual work effort analysis, problem solving and control check.

For example, after every mobile testing, web site testing or desktop testing, their results should be doublechecked to make sure they meet user needs and product mission. In case they don’t, we have to make sure this mistake should be treated as a failure.

If it really is, the record should be opened for this bug and all the means of problem solving should be used to fix it. To get rid of the problem source, it should be found and handled. If you don’t consider it to be a failure, there are still several steps you should make.

What Should You Do In Case You Detected an Error?

  1. Each found fault should at least be uniquely marked to make it easier to find and solve it. The data of every error should be described and kept up to date during trouble solving. You should describe a software bug in such a way:
    • Add information about how the problem was detected. Namely, what was the tester doing when the bug was found? This might prove to be useful for software developers who would handle it.
    • The exact place where the errors were fixed after the problem was observed or the direct location of bug found in the process of mobile testing, web site testing or desktop testing.
  2. Every found fault should be counted and its important data should be used in analyses together with general project information. Such analyses use different models of quality assessment, that may reveal useful information, namely: the density and distribution of fault, tested product security, data of quality assessment techniques progress, etc. If you need a more detailed description, more error information should be collected, such as: the type of fault, its intensity, which fixes were used towards it and so on.
